Project Life Weeks 27-29, 2014

Hello Everyone

Today I'm sharing my Project Life layouts for Weeks 27-29, 2014.  I have simplified my layouts a lot and I was able to complete these three layouts in about an hour and a half after deciding on the photos and printing them off.  I have kept the embellishments to a minimum or none at all for some photos.  I find that after doing Project Life on a weekly basis for the past year and a half that I'm still trying to find what I like (lots of embellishing or minimal etc) for my layouts.  Hopefully I will find out what works for my by the end of my second full year and I would like to try and be more consistent with my layouts in 2015.  I will continue on with my PL 2014 layouts and post them as I complete them.  I would love to get some comments/feedback on what you think.

LOVE OUR NIGHTLY ROUTINE Scrapbook LAYOUT

Hello Everyone

Today I'm sharing a very simple layout I created using Dear Lizzy's DayDreamer products.  My younger daughter and I have a nightly routine where we watch YouTube videos from our favourite card and layout designers: Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner, Nichol Magouirk, Corrie Jones, Lawn Fawn's Kelly and Chari, and Melissa Stinson.

I thought that it would be a great idea to document this in a layout and asked my husband to snap a couple of pics of us one night when we were watching our videos.

LAWN FAWN HAPPY BIRTHDAY BANNER and a CARD

Hello Everyone
Today I'm sharing a HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner I created with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads and LAWN FAWN's Stitched Party Banners and LAWN FAWN's Louie's ABCs dies from their latest release.  My daughter and I were watching a YouTube video on the Lawn Fawn channel and saw this WaterColor Party Banner by Nicole and my daughter said that she wanted me to make a banner like that one for her birthday....She picked the three distress inks that she loved most (squeezed lemonade, picked raspberry and shaded lilac).  I will be using some Lawn Trimmings twine to connect them.  I used 140lb watercolour paper and for the water colouring and then used the smaller banner to die-cut the water coloured paper as well as the letters.  The stitched circle die was die-cut using heavy 110lb white card stock. The letters are inlaid into the stitched circle die and then popped up with dimensional pop dots.

Just for fun I used the banner die and created a sample shaker birthday invitation.  The larger banner opens up from the top.  The 10 was die-cut using Louie's 123s.  The stamping is from Just My Type, Too stamp set from LAWN FAWN as well.

Project Life 2014 Week 12 Through Week 23

Hello Everyone

Today I'm sharing my Project Life layouts for Weeks 12-23, 2014.  You can see my Weeks 1-11 that was posted on July 23, 2014 (my previous post) and also Weeks 24-26 was posted on July 21, 2014.

Moving forward I will be posting the weeks in order as I complete them.  It will be my way of making sure that I keep up with my PL this year as well.  I was successful in completing my 2013 year even though I did not post all my layouts.  I have tweaked a few things like just using the Design A page protectors and up until now I have been printing my photos on my home printer (HP Photosmart 7520) for each week.  It seems to be helping me stay current.  I will be creating my layouts for Weeks 27, 28, and 29 and hopefully ready to share them next week.

Project Life 2014 Week 1 Through Week 11

Hello Everyone

Today I'm sharing the first 11 weeks of my Project Life 2014 album as well as the Cover Page.  For the entire year I have kept the Week numbers and a 3x4 calendar of the month with the days stamped in a star consistently throughout the year.  Both were from Studio Calico.  For the most part the layouts each week were created with Studio Calico PL main kits from that month.  I will be posting Weeks 12-23 in a couple of days from now.

Project Life Weeks 24-26 2014

Hello Everyone

Today I'm sharing my Project Life layouts for Weeks 24-26, 2014.  I know I haven't been sharing my PL pages this year on my Blog but I will be posting them here in the next few days or so.  I will probably do them over a 2 to 4 posts just so that my posts aren't too long.  I have tried to simplify things and not really embellish my layouts too much and without bulk because it seems that even when I don't think Ive taken a lot of photos in a particular week I still have quite a few and so my layouts are pretty photo heavy.

Week 24 - I used Becky Higgins mini Inspiration kit and used Simple Stories Snap! labels.

Week 25 - I used Stampin' Up! I Am Me DSP (retired) and Simple Stories labels.  The Stitched Camera is from an Amy Tangerine Stencil.

Week 26 - I used the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Core Kit and Studio Calico embellishments.

I will be posting the first 23 weeks over the next week! :)

Sketch N Scrap July 20th, 2014 Card Sketch ... You're The Best

Hello Everyone
I'm sharing my second Sketch N Scrap card for July 2014 with you today!  This is the card sketch created by Lisa Hidy one of the very talented sketch artists and co-owners at Sketch N Scrap.

For my card I used Stampin' Up! products except for the Enamel Dots (MME).
The card stock base is Whisper White cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  I used the Just Sayin' Stamp Set with Word Bubbles Framelits and inked the saying with Soft Suede Ink Pad.  The patterned paper is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Circles Collections Framelits to die cut the Soft Suede card stock .  The embossed card stock was created using Coastal Cabana Cardstock and the Folder Arrows Textured Embossing Folder cut the ends of the Marina Mist CS with my scissors into banners.  The THANKS saying was stamped with Soft Suede Ink Pad and the Just Sayin' stamp set.  I finished the card off by using three different sizes of enamel dots from MME.

Thank you and Happy Scrappin'!

Love You Watercolour Butterflies Layout

Hello Everyone
Today I'm sharing a layout I created using watercolours.  This was one of those layouts that ended up going in a totally different direction than I had originally planned.  It was completely inspired by my daughter's dress.  I wanted to create a background that mimicked her dress.  Once I had created my background and started putting down the photos it wasn't looking right to me.  It was too much.  I then went to a white base and punched out a couple of butterflies that I was going to use as embellishments.  I grabbed a bunch of paper scraps that had the colours I wanted and started placing them in behind my photo.  I finally got it the way that was pleasing to my eyes.  I die cut the title with an Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday die set using my water-colour pattern I had created.  I decided on a whim to punch out the rest of the water coloured paper as well.  I was working on top of my layout and as I punched the butterflies they were landing all over it.....This is how this layout came about.  So next time a layout isn't working for you just let it be and see where the layout takes you! :)

DTM Challenge - Using Acrylic Paints on Layouts ...Her Happy Place

Hello Everyone

Today's layout is a challenge from Tiffany O'Grady (a fellow Design Team member at Scrap Your Scraps).  Her challenge was to use acrylic paints on a layout.  I have a nice collection of acrylic paints that I purchased a while ago with the intent on coming home from the craft store and using them.... as a lot of you I'm sure can relate ... that didn't happen.  I put them on my shelf above my desk like a photo frame.  Then with Tiffany's challenge I knew it was time they (ok a couple of them) came off my shelf and onto my 12x12 stark white card stock.
I had seen a technique that Corrie Jones had used a while back.  I used a little lit of Gesso on my plain card stock as a base.  I then took some acrylic paint and put some on three areas of a piece of wax paper.  I added Gesso to two of the three globs to get a light, medium and dark shades of my acrylic paint.  Using an old gift card I dabbed it in the paint mixture and tapped them on my card stock as shown below.

Once I was happy with it I left it to dry and moved on to my second paint technique which I saw Tim Holtz do on a demo for his distress paints and stencils.  I used a scrap piece of white card stock with a template and white paint.  I dabbed the paint with a piece of foam over the template onto the scrap piece of white card stock.  I let the paint dry and then with a foam applicator and distress ink went over the painted on image.  Once I did that I took a damp cloth and wiped over the white resisted image from the paint to make it pop a little better.

I completed my layout with 6x6 scraps of paper and little stamping and a few drops of shine mist.

thanks for stopping by and HAPPY SCRAPPIN'!
